Vusasizwe Music Academy (VMA), established in 2006, is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the nation through arts education and skills training, with a particular focus on music. Officially registered as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) in 2009 and recognized as a Public Benefiting Organization in 2012, VMA strives to provide affordable music education and performance opportunities for rural children and youth. Founded by Joseph Milazi, Esther Malaza, and Desmond Nkosi, the academy prioritizes accessibility, evaluating learners through accredited institutions and awarding them with SAQA-compliant certificates. Their mission is embodied in their vision of offering "NO LIMITS NO BOUNDARIES" in musical opportunities.

OBJECTIVES

  • **VMA Objectives**

    **Arts Education:** To create opportunities for children, youth, and women in rural and historically disadvantaged communities to access music education, learn to play symphonic instruments, engage in stage performances, and explore various aspects of the arts.

    **Training:** To provide an academy that fast-tracks and nurtures the musical talents of children and youth from rural communities, enhancing their instrumental skills.

    **Empowerment:** To empower music tutors and arts practitioners to combat the social ills affecting communities through the transformative power of music.

    **Social Cohesion:** To contribute to broader social development, celebrate diversity, and tell the stories of communities and the nation through artistic expression.

    **Sustainability:** To establish revenue-generating projects that create job opportunities for young people, alleviate poverty, and support the sustainability of academy programs.
